The New Side of Kolkata-as i saw it

Recently I experienced something which introduced me to a totally new(and dark) genre of the Kolkata culture. I went to this party with a few of my friends, without the slightest indication of what it was about..we were promised good food, and grand masti for free, so, why not? The party started off late (its IST, the Indian Stretcheable Time). They had hired singers without the slightest sense of sur or taal, but I guess, thats the way it goes in these events(the lady-anchor was good-looking,i must admit). There was a bar, where hard drinks were being sold at nominal rates..unlimited. As the pathetic melancholy dreadful old hindi numbers(the renditions would have depressed the original singers to suicide), gave way to the jhakaas tracks(which have never needed surs or taals anyways), the effects of the hard drinks began to seep in..the crowd, mostly drunk, started to dance...but thats perfectly natural in a party when jhinchaak songs are playing. But as the party went on, the nature of the dances started to turn towards the worst, and soon, the "dances" started to include everything, ranging from open displayals of effections of all the 3 orientations to stripping. To a reader, it may seem as an "eye-candy" experience, but believe me,viewing things in a video, and watching it live in front of u makes a hell n heaven difference..a video may seem provokative, but when made to watch live, ur conscience bites u..(and im sure, those who r reading this blog respect the same cultures and traditions as i do). to make things worse, they announced rain dance!!
My point is, does one really need to enjoy parties in this manner? I mean..come on, there must be a limit. i agree that the food was excellent, and i particularly enjoyed the time spent with my friends...the adda n masti, but definitely did not expect an obscene form of enjoyment. One cannot blame the youth, coz i saw an elderly man, in his sixties, dancing around almost-nude girls, who are of the age of his grand-daughter, in the articifial rain, with his shirt unbuttoned. Is this really the "night culture" of Kolkata, ?..if so, then I hope all the best to the upcoming days of doom for Kolkata..thats wot u call WESTERNIZATION, huh??

where was the party ????
Its quite normal in a late night party that u see "stripping" ...in a miniature sense & not in westernized manner....bcoz then people with a "weak & clean" heart will faint!!! nothing abnormal in it!!!& above all u cant do anything about these things....the girls (if not they were hired dancers) were not forced stripped....or forcefully made to dance nude!!!they were doing those things on their own will!!! so, who cares?? This will be an eye-candy for those who are used to seeing girls nude & semi-nude on internet!
This type of late night "wild" has begun 2-3 years back influenced by western culture & will continue for a while, as its more of a "perverted" fashion now, .... until it becomes a fad! So if anyone doesn't want to enjoy it he/she should stay away from it or keep eyes closed...there is basically no other option!
And my request to the people who would like to keep their eyes closed .... DON'T ever VISIT Khajuraho Temple bcoz there you will find nude female forms curved out of rocks! And always feel ashamed of the fact that Kamasutra was originated in India!!!
And one thing .... what I believe is that the culture of kolkata/India is not so weak that it will crumble if a few girls strip & dance .... I wont comment on this issue bcoz somewhat I am fedup & disgusted with kolkata culture....the processions, the bandhs, the congestions, the administrative system.... & the "atlamo" of the "intellectual atels" here around!!!
I think its time for the kolkata culture to change ...but surely not to a striptease culture.....but to an "open-minded & productive working" culture!!!

hi Joydeepto...
first of all..let me ask u..how can u have "stripping" in a miniature sense...i mean..can there be something as semi-stripping?
second of all..as i have already pointed out...seeing things over the net, and seeing them live make a hell n heaven difference...we see SRK films almost everyday on TV, then how cum there is a crowd of fans always super excited when SRK appears in public?
third of all..its not about keeping ur eyes closed or open...believe me, had u been there, u would have also felt the shame..coz basically, no matter how perverted we may be in our discussions, we all come from descend background which never endorse their children to be exposed to this sort of events..live or videos. n particularly..reality bites..when u see guys n gals of ur own age, from ur own city, revealing their privateness before a wholesome crowd.
true, that this does not depict a major chunk of Kolkata's culture, but even the East India were a mere business company when they set foot on India...the rest is History.
n girls dancing semi nude in front of u is not wot u call "art"...which Khajuraho is

Hello Bhamu,
What I meant about "stripping in miniature sense" is that stripping to inners & not to complete nude!!
And ... why the mad crowd shouts, dances seeing SRK in public God knows....they are MAD! I dont find any valid reason for shouting & jumping seeing SRK.
I haven't seen stripping in real...thats for sure & I dont want to ...so I cant really comment on how it feels, as you are saying, diff is like distance between heel & heaven ... & even if I was to see that in real I wouldn't have felt ashamed bcoz I am not seeing that for my interest, its not my desire that has attracted me to see the striptease ... It was a coincident or I should say a misfortune that in the place, where I was, there was such a show going on! I dont care how other guys & gals of my age think or lead their life ... & I am least bothered with them bcoz the group which behave in this way, run after those bullshit stuffs ...the western hap, is a mere 10-20% of the whole lot! They can very well go & die in the gutter....no problem! But obviously you can say that I too belong to this society...so I have to, even if I dont want to, pay heed to what is going on around in the society but as I have already said...this wild bunch is only 10-20% of the whole GenX.
There are people like me & u those who hates this dark side of western world but will accept the real good things of the west with happy & open mind. We will never ever in our lives do any thing that makes us, our family shameful. And just look around, we 2 are not alone, there are a lot of people like us.....So dont be too upset!!! Everything has a bright & a dark side my dear!

ah..but that is wot i meant by my last point, dear...the East India Company arrived in India as any other co..n went on to conquer India, coz a part of the Indians supported their business...if we endorse such antics..God knows where we'll end up in..true, that after u drink, u r out of ur senses...but then again..can a woman be so out of her senses that she bares herself in front of a crowd completely alien to her?
